TV Show Recommendation!
Hey guys! First post of the new year! Sorry I've been away for so long. Life's been busy! Ok, now for the story.
Alright guys, today you're going to be hearing about a recent obsession of mine: The Vampire Diaries. You guys may have heard about it from fans' outrage at its removal from Netflix Australia/New Zealand. There are 8 seasons with about 21 45-minute episodes each. I love this show so much, I worked through all of it in the span of about a month and a half. Trust me, once you start watching, you won't be able to stop! The Vampire Diaries is an American TV show on Netflix about two brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore, who happen to be vampires. The show begins with them moving back to their hometown of Mystic Falls, Virginia, bringing all their vampire drama with them. However, the Salvatores aren't exactly on the best terms as Damon has sworn to make Stefan's life a living hell. So, when Stefan falls in love with a girl, Damon tries his very best to screw things up. Now, here's where things get interesting. The girl that Stefan is in love with, Elena Gilbert, is the magical doppelgänger of the former love of Damon and Stefan's life from the 1800's.
Now Elena is a kind, compassionate, thoughtful person who just lost her parents in a car crash the past summer and is struggling to be a good sister to her little brother, who is a bit of a mess. Mix all this in with the fact that her friends are witches and vampires in a town that hates magic, and you've got quite a bit of drama already.
As the seasons progress, Stefan and Elena go through ups and downs together and always seem to come out on top. Stefan seems like the perfect guy: he always tries to do the right thing, has a strong moral compass, and will do anything to protect Elena. Everyone loves him! Damon is the polar opposite. He kills people for the fun of it, is always letting someone's expectations of him down, and is totally unpredictable. (You can imagine my distress at him constantly hanging around all my favorite characters!) Now, picture this wild, destructive vampire falling for sweet, human Elena, while she's with Stefan, A.K.A. his brother?! The audience is constantly left wondering who Elena will choose as new enemies that threaten the town of Mystic Falls constantly wreak havoc and Elena's friends are brought into the struggle against evil vampires that infest their town.
